Common Questions

Do I need window and door experience to open a TruePane franchise?

No, but it helps. We train franchise owners on the TruePane method regardless of background, and many of our most successful operators come from general contracting, home services, or business management. What we look for is a steady operator who shows up when they say they will, not someone who already knows how to swing a glazing bar. Our training covers the craft, the quoting process, and the warranty discipline that makes TruePane different.

What is the total investment range for a TruePane franchise?

Total investment varies by market size, real estate, and equipment needs, and final figures come from our Franchise Disclosure Document, which we provide early in the process. What we can say here is that a window and door franchise carries real startup costs: vehicles, tooling, showroom space, inventory, and working capital for the first season. We walk every candidate through the numbers line by line before they sign anything.

Is financing available to help with the franchise cost?

We don’t offer in-house financing, and we don’t make promises about third-party lenders. Many candidates use SBA-backed loans or conventional small business lending, and we’re glad to point you toward lenders familiar with home services franchises. What we will do is help you build a business plan with realistic revenue projections based on actual job economics, not franchise-brochure math.

Will I get an exclusive territory?

Yes, franchise territories are defined and exclusive, and the boundaries are written into the franchise agreement. Territory size depends on population density, housing stock age, and how far a two-person crew can reasonably travel for a free estimate and still make money. We would rather give you a smaller territory you can genuinely serve than a big map that looks good on a wall.

How long is franchise training, and where does it happen?

Training runs several weeks and combines classroom time, field work alongside a TruePane journeyman, and real quoting practice on actual homes. Our trainers measure you on the same standard we measure every technician: both warranty layers registered in writing before the truck leaves the driveway. If the pane is not true, the job is not done, and you will hear that sentence a hundred times before you open your doors.

What ongoing fees or royalties does TruePane charge?

There is a royalty and a brand fund contribution, and both are explained in plain language in the FDD before you commit. We don’t hide fees in fine print, and we don’t charge for things that don’t benefit the franchisee. Our approach comes from the job site: quote it on paper, state the terms, no surprises on the bill.

How long does it take to open a TruePane franchise once I sign?

Most franchisees open within four to six months of signing, depending on real estate timelines and training cohorts. The fastest variable is usually site buildout; the slowest is finding the right shopfront in a neighborhood where homeowners actually live. We would rather you open a month late than open in the wrong location.

What support does TruePane provide after I open?

You get continuing support on marketing, manufacturer relationships, warranty registration, and technical questions from the field. We maintain relationships with more than a dozen manufacturer lines including Andersen, Pella, Marvin, Milgard, Jeld-Wen, PGT, CGI, and ES Windows, and our franchisees get side-by-side quote access to those lines from day one. When a tricky install comes up, you call a person who has seen it before, not a ticket queue.

What kind of person makes a good TruePane franchise owner?

The person who belongs here is the one who gets bothered when a job is out of true, even a little. You should be plainspoken, patient, and willing to do the unglamorous work: showing up on time, measuring twice, returning the call. If you have ever been burned by a contractor and remembered it for ten years, you understand the customer we serve and the standard we will not compromise.
