• Visible rust or pitting on the frame or hinges. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but the fasteners and hardware do. If you see rust streaks running from a screw or hinge, the galvanic reaction has started, and the only fix is replacing the hardware before the frame itself gets compromised.
• Cracks in the glass itself. Laminated glass can crack and still stay in the frame because of the interlayer. That’s the impact rating working. But a cracked unit has lost its structural integrity and needs replacement before the next storm, not after.

DIY or Call Us?

If you’re comfortable with a screwdriver and a level, there are things you can safely check. You can inspect the weep holes at the bottom of the frame and clear them with a soft brush. You can check the weatherstripping for compression and take photos of the etching codes and frame dimensions. Those details help us quote accurately over the phone.
