Pella Windows & Doors in San Antonio, OH | TruePane Windows & Doors

We’re TruePane Windows & Doors, and we provide independent Pella windows and doors service across San Antonio. We’re not a Pella company shop - we’re a local glazing crew that has spent over a decade working on Pella units in this city’s historic districts, and we know exactly how Pella’s wood cladding, rollscreens, and sash hardware behave when they meet central Texas heat, gumbo clay movement, and the Certificate of Appropriateness process. Call (888) 635-0804 for a free estimate.

Call (888) 635-0804

Our crew works on Pella Architect Series, Lifestyle Series, 450 Series, and the discontinued Impervia line. We know which Pella failures show up repeatedly in San Antonio and which ones are worth repairing. That matters, because those two lists are not the same.

Why San Antonio Residents Choose Us for Pella Service

Dale Kessler, our owner, learned window and door work the old way - on older homes with original wood frames and single-pane storms, in the building trades program at Columbus State, and then close to three decades of setting windows and doors across central Ohio before bringing that craft standard here. He measures every opening twice, quotes manufacturer lines side by side on paper, and registers both warranty layers before the truck leaves the driveway. That’s the Pella sales & service discipline we bring to every San Antonio job.

A live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Not a voicemail tree, not a callback form. When you call about a Pella sash that’s dragging or a rollscreen that won’t retract, you get a person who can schedule a technician. We’re local to San Antonio - not a regional call center - and we plan to be here in thirty years.

Common Pella Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in San Antonio

  • Rollscreen retraction failure from dust and grit. In Monte Vista bungalows, the fine caliche dust that blows through older screens works its way into the rollscreen spindle. The spring is fine - the muck isn’t. We pull the cassette, clean the mechanism, and replace the OEM Pella roller only if it’s actually worn.
  • Wood frame rot at the bottom corners of Architect Series double-hungs. San Antonio’s older stucco homes trap moisture behind the hard coat where the backer rod saturates behind the sill. In King William and Government Hill, we see rot that looks like exterior damage but started from trapped moisture behind the stucco line.
  • Broken sash pivot pins from foundation-driven racking. The Balcones Fault Zone’s black-gumbo soil swells and contracts seasonally. When the rough opening moves, the sash pivot pins take the shear. We see this most often in the 78210 and 78208 ZIP codes.
  • IGU seal failure with hazing along the bottom edge. When San Antonio summers run past 100°F and rooftop reflected heat pours onto the glass, the bottom edge of the sealed unit cooks. The desiccant saturates and the argon escapes. It reads as fog, but it’s thermal death. We replace the sash glass, not the frame.
  • Doors that rack 1/4 to 3/8 inch out of square in King William. Door frames installed perfectly plumb don’t stay plumb over black-gumbo clay. The frame heaves, the door drags or swings open on its own. We quote trim-back and re-shimming as an expected return visit - not as a warranty defect, the way newer crews sometimes mislabel it.

Pella Service in San Antonio: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s a San Antonio fact that no generic Pella service page will tell you: in the King William Historic District (78204), any Pella replacement sash or door unit installed without a Certificate of Appropriateness can trigger a stop-work order from the city’s Office of Historic Preservation. That doesn’t happen in Austin, and it doesn’t happen in Houston at anything like this density. It happens here, routinely, because the 78201-78210 corridor contains some of the densest certified historic districts in the state. Our technicians carry blank COA applications on the truck and pre-fill the window schedule before pulling the first stop bead. The weatherization or sash replacement you need is legal once the COA is in the file. Skip that step, and the job stops.

That’s the local knowledge that separates us from a catalog shop. We’ve walked Pella replacements through San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation more times than we can count, and we know what the reviewers check.

Pella Models & Products We Service in San Antonio

We service the full Pella line that shows up in San Antonio homes: Architect Series double-hungs and casements, Lifestyle Series sliders and patio doors, 450 Series, and the discontinued Impervia fiberglass line. For parts, we default to OEM Pella rollers, locks, and weatherstripping because the tolerances matter. But if a sash is cracked and the frame is square, we replace the sash and keep the frame. If the frame has racked beyond shimming limits, we say so plainly and quote a full-frame replacement instead of patching a losing battle. We keep common Pella hardware stocked in our San Antonio truck inventory so most repair calls get handled in a single visit. San Antonio service area coverage includes all four ZIP codes we work: 78207, 78208, 78209, and 78210.

FAQs - Pella Windows & Doors in San Antonio

A Pella Architect Series double-hung in my King William bungalow has a sash that binds when the clay soil shifts. Can you fix just the binding, or will the whole window need replacing?
We can usually fix the binding without replacing the whole window. The fix is typically new pivot pins, tune the balance shoes, and re-shim the frame slightly. We only quote a replacement when the frame itself has racked past shimming limits. Call (888) 635-0804 and we’ll tell you which situation you have.

Does replacing a Pella window in the Monte Vista Historic District trigger the Certificate of Appropriateness process?
Yes. Monte Vista (78201) is a certified historic district, and replacing any visible window sash or door unit requires a COA from the city’s Office of Historic Preservation before work proceeds. We handle that application on your behalf. It’s routine for us, not a surprise.

My Pella Lifestyle Series slider rollscreen has stopped retracting smoothly. Is that dust from San Antonio’s wind, or a broken mechanism?
In most San Antonio cases, it’s dust and caliche grit fouling the spindle, not a broken spring. We clean the cassette and mechanism first. If the roller is truly worn, we quote the OEM Pella replacement. Most rollscreen calls don’t need new parts.

The bottom corners of my Pella wood windows are starting to rot where the stucco meets the sill. Can you repair just those corners, or does the whole frame have to go?
If the rot is limited to the bottom corners and hasn’t gone deep into the frame, we can cut out the bad wood, splice in new stock, and re-flash the stucco integration. We’ll tell you honestly if it’s past repair. Call (888) 635-0804 for a free assessment.

After Winter Storm Uri, several of my Pella dual-pane units in Government Hill developed fogging along the bottom edge. Can the glass be regassed, or do I need new sashes?
Dual-pane IGU glass can’t be regassed in the field. Once the seal fails and the desiccant saturates, the fix is replacing the glass unit. We quote the sash glass replacement and keep the existing frame. That’s a repair, not a whole-window replacement.

Those answers are the short version. The longer truth is that every San Antonio Pella window we meet has a story of heat and soil written into it. We read that story before we quote.
